Frequently Asked Questions
#BEACTIVE DAY is a Europe-wide campaign coordinated by EuropeActive together with its network of national associations and partners. Each year, thousands of free physical activity events take place across Europe to celebrate the joy of movement and encourage people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to be active.
The campaign shows how physical activity can support healthier lifestyles, strengthen communities and inspire long-term behaviour change. Events can take place in fitness centres, parks, schools, workplaces, public spaces and many other settings.
In 2026, #BEACTIVE DAY focuses on Mental Health and Wellbeing.
This year’s campaign highlights the important role physical activity can play in supporting mood, confidence, routine, social connection and overall wellbeing. It also recognises that the environment in which people move matters. Supportive, welcoming and inclusive settings can make a real difference to how people experience physical activity.
As part of this year’s focus, EuropeActive is also launching a Mental Health and Wellbeing Guide for the fitness and physical activity sector, designed to help providers create safer, more inclusive and more positive environments.
#BEACTIVE DAY is open to everyone.
The campaign welcomes participation from the general public, as well as from organisations and providers that want to promote physical activity in their communities. This includes fitness and leisure operators, exercise professionals, schools, universities, workplaces, municipalities, community groups, charities, NGOs, health organisations and many others.
If you can create a positive opportunity for people to move, you can be part of #BEACTIVE DAY!
#BEACTIVE DAY offers a chance to be part of a wider European movement while creating value locally.
For organisers, it can help:
- engage new audiences
- showcase services and activities
- strengthen visibility in the local community
- build partnerships with other organisations and stakeholders
- contribute to a more active, inclusive and health-conscious society
It is an opportunity to combine local impact with European visibility.
No.
Although the campaign is led by the fitness and physical activity sector, it is not limited to gyms or fitness clubs. #BEACTIVE DAY is open to a wide range of organisers and partners who want to encourage people to move. The campaign is strongest when different sectors work together, including education, health, local government, community organisations and employers.
#BEACTIVE DAY is built around accessible and welcoming participation, and events are generally encouraged to be free of charge wherever possible.
The aim is to reduce barriers and make it easier for more people to take part, especially those who may not usually engage in physical activity settings.
If you would like to organise an event, the best first step is to contact your national association if #BEACTIVE DAY is active in your country.
National associations can provide campaign information, guidance, communication materials and support for organisers. If the campaign is not yet active in your country, you are still welcome to contact EuropeActive directly to express your interest.
Yes, of course!
If your country is not currently part of the campaign, we would still be pleased to hear from you. EuropeActive welcomes interest from organisations, providers and stakeholders who would like to explore future involvement.
