The 2022 #BEACTIVE DAY campaign officially launched across Europe

On Tuesday 7 June, EuropeActive gathered representatives from 19 European national fitness association partners, in order to formally launch the #BEACTIVE DAY campaign. #BEACTIVE DAY celebrates and promotes the fun and importance of physical activity, and the focus this year will be on activating more women and girls.

The virtual event offered an opportunity to update the participants about the campaign’s timeline, which will culminate in an event held around the date of 23 September and conclude with a conference planned in early December. In addition, EuropeActive shared some insights regarding the communication strategy and the subsequent dissemination of information. Based on the same principle as last year, the general public will have access to the campaign via the #BEACTIVE DAY website, which will redirect users towards their national fitness association, and also on social media channels, through the hashtag #BEACTIVEDAY. During the event, representatives from the participating national fitness associations were strongly encouraged to launch and implement the campaign in their respective countries. The meeting provided an opportunity to unveil the current state of play, but also to share best practices and reinforce the existing bilateral connections.

The 2022 edition of #BEACTIVE DAY will consist of free events and activities organised in different locations across Europe, such as health and fitness clubs, workplaces, or outdoor facilities. Key players of the fitness and physical activity sector, namely health clubs, leisure centres, digital providers, club operators, and exercise professionals are encouraged to organise an event to promote physical activity. It is an inclusive campaign and, therefore, participation is open to the general public regardless of age, gender or socio-economic background. The European Commission selected the #BEACTIVE DAY project for funding under the Erasmus+ Programme.

EuropeActive has been an official partner of the European Week of Sport since its launch, in 2015. Last year, #BEACTIVE DAY was presented as a good practice by the European Commission for contributing to the European Week of Sport. Moreover, the WHO featured the campaign in the ‘Reinvent and Rebuild’ series on building back better after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The #BEACTIVE DAY campaign is generously sponsored by FIBO Global Fitness and the President’s Council for Suppliers & Digital Tech.
