EuropeActive gears up for #BEACTIVE DAY in September

The build-up to the second edition of #BEACTIVE DAY, the European campaign that celebrates the fun and importance of exercise and encourages people to be active for the day, is now in full swing after the instructive workshop hosted by EuropeActive on Tuesday, 7th June. More than 17 national associations are already planning campaigns in their respective countries to demonstrate how essential the fitness sector is for people’s health and wellbeing.

The #BEACTIVE DAY is an initiative from the fitness and physical activity sector and represents a collaboration between EuropeActive and its national association partners, which will be hosting during the European Week of Sport (23rd – 30th September) thousands of free events and activities organised across Europe and beyond in different locations such as health and fitness clubs, workplaces, outdoor facilities and many more places.

Key players of the fitness and physical activity sector such as health clubs, leisure centres, digital providers, club operators, and exercise professionals are encouraged to organise an event centered around physical activity promotion, to get more people, more active, more often, but also to help the adoption of active, healthy lifestyles become a policy priority across Europe. Participation is open to the general public, regardless of age, gender or socio-economic background, as the core goal of the campaign is to enjoy the benefits of physical activity and spread the #BEACTIVE message across society.

Commenting on the campaign, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel said: “The #BEACTIVE DAY campaign is a wonderful example of how our partners can contribute to the success of the European Commission’s European Week of Sport. I was impressed by the results of last year’s #BEACTIVE DAY, and now look very much forward to seeing it gain further momentum this year. With EuropeActive and its actors, we join forces to encourage Europeans to be more active, to improve their general health and wellbeing and to make the most of our HealthyLifeStyle4All campaign!”.

EuropeActive CEO Andreas Paulsen commented: “I am thrilled to see the #BEACTIVE DAY campaign running again in 2022 with the clear focus of becoming the main annual celebration and contribution from the fitness and physical activity sector during the European Week of Sport. I would like to thank our national association partners, as well as every key fitness stakeholder, for their commitment and creativeness to make this event a reality in more than 17 different European countries.

We are a proud partner of the Week and a strong supporter of the #BEACTIVE message, and therefore, I would like to invite everyone to join us on #BEACTIVE DAY and make September 23rd the most active day of the year and get more people, more active, more often“, he concluded.

The European Commission selected the #BEACTIVE DAY project for funding under the Erasmus+ Programme.

#BEACTIVE DAY is kindly sponsored by FIBO Global Fitness with the support of EuropeActive’s President’s Council for Suppliers, Digital & Tech.
