#BEACTIVE DAY coordination meetings simultaneously organised across Europe

Stakeholders from the public and private sectors, together with civil society actors, gathered in Prague, Sarajevo and Arnhem for the National Stakeholders Seminar, on 23 and 24 June. The participants, primarily representatives from fitness clubs and organisations working in the fitness and physical activity sector, were strongly encouraged to join the campaign and were invited to prepare events for #BEACTIVE DAY in September.

The informative sessions provided an opportunity to present the concept of the campaign organised within the European Week of Sport, but also led to the establishment of each partner national association as the national contact point for the implementation of #BEACTIVE DAY. At the national level, the events allowed to foster collaboration and to exchange of best practices, in order to start preparing for the #BEACTIVE DAY event. The seminar helped to foster collaboration and exchanges of best practices in order to start preparing #BEACTIVE DAY. The European perspective of the campaign, with a focus this year on the inclusion of girls and women in fitness and physical activity, was presented by members of the EuropeActive team, present in the three locations.

The National Stakeholders Seminar provided an excellent opportunity to spread the message of #BEACTIVE DAY and, subsequently, of the European Week of Sports. It also provided an opportunity to convey the European Commission’s message on the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles across the entire continent. The campaign is expected to reach its peak in September 2022, during the European Week of Sport, when all the #BEACTIVE DAY events will take place in the partner countries and all across Europe on the same day, making it the most active day of the year.

#BEACTIVE DAY is an initiative from the fitness and physical activity sector, which primarily aims to draw attention to the importance of regular physical activity for people’s physical, mental and social well-being. The 2022 edition will consist of free events and activities, organised in different locations across Europe, such as health and fitness clubs, workplaces, or outdoor facilities. The European Commission selected the #BEACTIVE DAY project for funding under the Erasmus+ Programme.

The #BEACTIVE DAY campaign is sponsored by FIBO Global Fitness and supported by EuropeActive’s President’s Council for Suppliers & Digital.

EuropeActive has been an official partner of the European Week of Sport since its launch, in 2015. Last year, #BEACTIVE DAY was presented as a good practice by the European Commission for contributing to the European Week of Sport.
